about sk8ology
The Sk8ology Display System and corresponding DeckDisplay website were created to showcase the art of skateboarding. The professional skateboarders, the manufacturers, marketing companies, and the artists all collaborate in producing the magic that ultimately goes under our feet....and now, hopefully, on your wall.
our story...
I started skateboarding in 1969. I was six years old. My parents gave me a wooden wheeled oak & mahogany board with pre-baseplate Chicago Trucks. My Dad took the board and painted eyes on the sides and hammered in nails for the center of the eyeballs and painted a sharks mouth on the bottom showing its teeth. That board was the coolest thing ever - no other six year old kid I knew owned the oceans most feared predator mounted on trucks & wheels. By early 1975 I had upgraded to a psycadelic green & yellow fiberglass Wayne Brown kicktail with X-Calibers and Stokers quickly followed by my dream board in 1976: A red & yellow G&S Fiberflex with Bennett Trucks and Road Rider 4's with IKS Bearings. I saved for 3 months to buy the wheels and bearings first, a month later the trucks, and finally saved enough the following month to buy the deck. While saving for the deck, I went to sleep each night staring at the ads in Skateboarder Magazine and held the Road Riders to the light where they glowed like hot coals. The memories of these skateboards and the hundreds that followed will be etched into my mind forever.
Fast forward 30 years and I've had the honor of spending my entire life in the skateboard industry building products, companies, and brands that put smiles on kids faces - no matter how old they are. The Sk8ology Deck Display Concept was developed simply because I could not stand having my collection of skateboard decks collecting dust in my closet. Every time I look at one of these decks on the wall it brings me back to a great time of my life, a life spent on my skateboard. Skateboarding is art and it is our pleasure to help you showcase yours.
Sincerely,
Schmiddy

chris klich
Sk8ology’s Chris Klich fell in love with skateboarding at the age of ten. It was then that he watched the movie “Skateboard Kid”. As lame as the story line was in the movie Chris learned something: He needed a skateboard. After begging his parents everyday for a solid 8 months Mom & Dad delivered in Christmas 1994. The board was a Hobie Sawblade. Hobie was a really cool brand in the 70’s, but by the 90’s it was licensed plastic Cheese. The love affair between Chris and skateboarding was born. A year later for his 11th birthday, Chris upgraded to a Santa Cruz with Independent trucks, Spitfire wheels, and Bones Reds. After moving to Seattle, Chris was skateboarding everyday after school and into the evenings. The University Place mini ramp was his first experience skating transition and on the first drop in Chris chipped his tooth. The joy of dropping in overwhelmed any pain then or in the future and soon Chris was sponsored by TrickWood Skate Shop, skating contests and doing demos.
Chris was one of the first advocates of Sk8ology after seeing it at the ASR show and within a year offered a full time gig after filming installs and assisting with trade shows. Chris’s love for art has flourished with access to all the different board graphics and artists through the Sk8ology Art Shows. Chris’ collection of skateboards has grown to over 65 boards, all displayed using Sk8ology fixturing, of course!
